Latch Hook

Thanks I'm glad you all like my little elephant. Last night I did a bit more and found it easier at the bottom so from now on I'm going from bottom to top, line by line. That's the plain. 

I'm now also back stitching The Rose Of Sharon so she will be my next post I think.

I've been stitching Sleep Time, when I can and the bunny now has a head.

I've had to put this one away again as I will be seeing the gift recipient very soon and I don't want her to see it. It's sad as I was just getting into it.

Today the mail man give me my new stash and I could not wait to start the latch hook elephant. It took a little time to work out not only how to do it again (its been years) but also where to start, what I like. 

The top left. It's now all good and I'm having fun. Hope to do more soon.

ABOUT ME

First I guess you should know is I don't write/post about me or my life. It's all about the cross stitch sorry. 

I will tell you my name is Amanda, I'm from Melbourne Australia. I have a brother and sister both older and lots of nieces and nephews, two of which have had a child so I'm also a great aunt to a little boy and a little girl. I love cross stitch, reading, my iPad, friends and dogs, birds.

ABOUT MY BLOG

I started my blog for a way to show people what i stitch, but over time it's become so much more. It's now a place I can go to talk to like minded people. To ask for help and get nice feedback on my stitching. Lets not forget I also get to see what everyone else is stitching too. None of my family or friends stitch so it's great to have my blog because of this.

MY STITCHING

I'm a one full cross at a time stitcher, I've always done it this way unless a kit tell me half stitch. I use 2 treads over 2 again unless a kit tells me different. I don't change charts with different colors or anything like that unless I have to. i only use Aida fabric and for the life of me I can not do a french knot so I use seed beads. I stitch any fantasy but will stitch other charts that I just like, or like right now that are a gift. I love Joan Elliott and Heaven And Earth Designs and have many charts from both.   

MY LONGEST CROSS STITCH WORK

It is hands down Mystic Stitch "Black Masquerade" This baby is so hard even harder then a big Heaven and Earth chart. She has been re stitched once after stitching 4 pages as I did not like the count of the Aida I was stitching her on at the time. She is now sitting at 2 1/2 pages. She has been though a lot of bad, sad things in my life and has been on the go for over 10 years I think it would be. One day I would love to get her stitched.

I have made a deal with myself that I was not to stitch anything else but the top 3 until they are all done and boy has it not been easy. I normally stitch want I want, when I want, so to be set in, is a little hard when i want to stitch a chart that's not part of the 3. 

So that's me, hope you have a look around and like want you see.

Fixed with a little help

Sat I could not stitch but today was a really great stitching day, I have not had one in a long time.

See for yourself... I cut off her head as its getting long for the photo.

I fixed my miscount and re stitched with the help of (right now my favourite stitching tool) a long magnet strip that I used like a ruler. I think because it was cross, mis, cross, mis, 3 cross, mis and so on and the next line more of the same but over to the left or right, I started to look at the wrong line. 

The magnet strip/ruler help me to focus on only the line I was stitching. What ever works right.

I think I will keep it close for now as I'm sure with this chart I will need it again. 

It's been ages since I miscounted but oh well. Thanks for all your kind words, I'm happy to know it happens to others and not just me.

The Rose Of Sharon, oh boy.

Well I have to say it has not been such a great stitching start to the new year for me so far.

Great for buying, not for stitching!

I've been so busy to stitch and when I find the time I mis count by one cross and you stitchers know if your out by one everything else that follows is too. So I've had to unpick a few crosses, only to find I did it again. I tell you right now I'm sure The Rose Of Sharon does not want to be stitch by me.

Saturday I will try again as I will not give up on it yet.

It is now on my very big list of to be stitched.

New Stash

I was a bad girl. Ya I really should not have got what I got. I have so much to stitch already I really should not be adding more but what can I say. lol it's what most of us stitchers do right....

I've had my eye on this next one for a while and been fifing and raring over it so thought why not.

And I've wanted to do a latch hook for a while but the price of them is a lot for a nice kit. This one is cute, in my price range and I can give it to one of my niece's as she loves elephants. So I see it as a win win. It's been years since I've done one and every so many years I feel like doing something other then cross stitch. So I hope you all don't mind if I show you the following latch hook on my blog.

On my stitching I have not been doing much because of the weather, its just been a few days of hot. but for the next few days it looks good so I will get stitching, still on The Rose Of Sharon. That's my hope anyway. I find I don't stitch much in Jan/Feb it's just to hot.

Story Keep Seasons Spring

Hi, I want to post more this year if I can. 

With family and friends popping in and out not much stitching got done but still it's a start on the story keep seasons. A lot of off white in this page hope you can see it in the photo.

  

Now on to The Rose Of Sharon. I  made a deal with myself that I was not to stitch anything but the 3 gifts until they are done, but right now I so want to start Treasure Hunt Bookshelf it's hard not to get it out.
